The Ma'mal: Jurnal Laboratorium Syariah dan Hukum is a high-quality open access peer-reviewed research journal published by Laboratorium Fakultas Syariah dan Hukum, UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya, East Java, Indonesia.
Aim and Scope
Ma'mal: Jurnal Laboratorium Syariah dan Hukum publishes original research articles addressing a broad spectrum of issues related to Sharia and law. The journal particularly encourages interdisciplinary and comparative approaches within, but not limited to, the following thematic areas:
- Islamic Jurisprudence and Legal Theory, including fiqh, uṣūl al-fiqh, legal reasoning (ijtihād), and comparative analyses across Islamic legal schools.
- Malay–Nusantara Legal Traditions, exploring the interaction between Islamic law and Malay customary law (adat), and their historical and contemporary developments.
- Sharia in Contemporary Legal Systems, examining the application and adaptation of Islamic law within national, religious, and hybrid legal frameworks.
- Law, Society, and Governance, analyzing how Sharia informs and interacts with culture, education, politics, ethics, and public policy in Muslim societies.
- Comparative and Global Perspectives, situating Islamic law in conversation with international law, human rights, and global justice discourses.
